This International Women’s Day, we are thinking of Ah Ching (alias) and her two young children.
In the early hours of that morning, she arrived at our Harmony House Women and Children Shelter, dragging her suitcase while holding her crying daughter tightly in her arms. Her hands and lips were trembling, and tears streamed down her face. Our staff gently wrapped an arm around her shoulders and said softly— “Come in… let’s get you and the children to a room to rest. You’re safe here.”
Just hours earlier, after an argument and physical pushing, Ah Ching and her children were forced out of their home by her husband. In her moment of deepest helplessness, she called Harmony House 24-hour Woman Hotline: 2522 0434.
Our frontline team immediately arranged for her and her children to be brought to the shelter, offering them a safe room, a warm drink, and someone who would listen patiently. With ongoing counselling and support, Ah Ching gradually regained her strength—and began to believe again: “I deserve to be treated with kindness.”
Since 1985, Harmony House has been supporting women affected by domestic violence and their children, providing emergency shelter, emotional support, counselling, and recovery programmes, providing emergency shelter, emotional support, counselling, and recovery programmes. This year, for International Women’s Day (3.8), we are launching a simple yet meaningful community initiative to spread strength, positivity, resilience, and hope.

今年的國際婦女節，我們想起了阿晴（化名）和她兩個年幼的孩子。
那天凌晨，她拖着行李、抱着哭泣的小女兒，來到我們和諧之家的婦女及兒童庇護中心。她的手及咀還在微微發抖，眼淚卻止不住地滑落。接她門入宿舍的姐姐輕輕摟住她的肩膀，只說了一句—— 「來吧，先進房休息，這裡很安全。」
就在幾小時前，吵架與推撞後，阿晴和孩子被丈夫趕出家門。 在最無助的時候，她致電我們的 24 小時婦女求助熱線 2522 0434。
我們的前線同工立即把她們接到庇護中心，提供一個安全的房間、一杯熱水、以及願意耐心聆聽的陪伴。隨着輔導與支援展開，阿晴慢慢重新站起來，也開始相信—— 原來自己值得被善待。
自 1985 年起，和諧之家一直致力支援受暴婦女及其子女，提供緊急庇護、情緒支援、輔導服務及復元重建計劃。家暴倖存者的復原往往需要漫長時間 - 你願意與我們一起同行，支持這些勇敢的女性嗎？
