Every day, plastic waste floods our environment, ending up in landfills, rivers, and ultimately, our oceans. In Vietnam, single-use plastics from businesses and households contribute heavily to this growing crisis. At Not Just Plastic, we believe waste isn’t waste until we waste it.

We’ve already proven that discarded plastic can have a second life, and that recycling can be educational too. We work with 125 plastic partners and ten schools across Hoi An, Da Nang, and Hanoi, where more than 3,500 students participate in a hands-on recycling initiative. Each week, students bring clean plastic waste to school and sort it into dedicated bins. They earn points they can redeem for rewards or donate to local NGOs like Children’s Education Foundation and Hearing & Beyond.

But this is not just a school program. It’s the start of a circular system. By learning to separate waste at the source and understanding what happens to it afterward, students become active contributors to a circular future and stewards of their environment.

There is no path to circularity without recycling, especially when it comes to low-value plastics like straws, lids, and single-use cups. We collect over 100,000 plastic straws every month and transform them into Gaia sunglasses. Made from 100 percent recycled plastic, these sunglasses are a testament to the possibilities of a truly circular economy — where discarded materials are turned into valuable, lasting products through innovation and community effort.

Now, we’re taking it a step further by turning waste into wearable impact through sustainable bracelets made entirely from recycled plastic. Like our sunglasses, these bracelets are fully recyclable and designed to be remade again and again, keeping plastic in use and out of the environment.

But we can’t scale this alone. While we’ve perfected our small-batch recycling processes, we still need the machinery to produce bracelets at scale. That’s where this fundraiser comes in.
